KELSO SOCCER CLUB MEETING MINUTES: JANUARY 19, 2010 Meeting called to order: 7:01 pm Minutes approved from the November 2009 meeting. Present: Morgan Aberle, Mauro Cruz Hernandez, Phil Dahl, Sarah Dahl, Sean Kiffe, Jennifer Murray, Linda Schulz, Josh Thompson, Nicole Vazquez, Lorla Victoriano PRESIDENT: Josh Thompson reports: • There will be no picture day during the spring season, but teams can still get the club rate for pictures at the studio. • Planning two mini-camps this summer for players (most likely one in July and one in August). • The restructuring/consolidation process of the Cowlitz Youth Soccer Association (CYSA) is ongoing. VICE PRESIDENT: Morgan Aberle is looking into a possible fundraiser with sweatshirts. SECRETARY: Sean Kiffe, no report. TREASURER: Sarah Dahl, current bills to be paid: PUD - $11.23, Qwest - $50.37, Registration/Sponsor copies and receipts - $52.43. Total disbursements for November/December were $2037.61. MSA to approve the treasurer’s report and pay the bills as presented. DIRECTOR OF COACHES: Position open, no report REGISTRAR: Jennifer Murray and Linda Schulz report 10 coaches and 38 players signed up so far for the spring season. We should be able to use the same player cards from the fall season. Registration for spring soccer is open and can be completed online or in person at Tam O on Feb. 16 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm (before the next meeting) or Feb. 20 from 10:00 – 2:00 at Coweeman Middle School. DIRECTOR OF EQUIPMENT: Nicole Vazquez is considering having all equipment returned after the spring season to get an accurate count of what we have. DIRECTOR OF SPONSORS: Lorla Victoriano reports that sponsorship for a spring team is $175. Sponsors for fall 2009 were down significantly from previous years, most likely due to the economic conditions. DIRECTOR OF FIELDS: Phil Dahl reports that the club is still looking for a mower replacement. DIRECTOR OF REFEREES: Jody Cook. Phil Dahl reports that a new referee certification clinic will be held in March (check the Longview club site for dates/times). Certified referees are needed due to a current shortage – get the word out to anyone interested! There is also the potential for a youth referee clinic in March – get interested names to Phil Dahl. COMMISSIONER’S REPORT: Phil Dahl reports: • Two CYSA select teams won their league this year, GU-12 and GU-14. • Two CYSA teams are currently competing in the Commissioner's Cup. • District 5 is looking at joining with the Portland Metro League to expand the number of select teams to play against. • Select tryouts are expected to be held in May. Anyone interested in coaching a select team should check the CYSA website. OLD BUSINESS: N/A NEW BUSINESS: Two scholarship requests – MSA to extend a scholarship to one of the players who played in the fall (need to check age of other girl as she may not be old enough).
